Ángel was born in Valdemorillo (Madrid, Spain) in 1949. Only 12 years after Father Cesáreo (the priest of his native village) spilled on his head the baptism water, he was determined to make his first guitar. Since he had no masters, his career is quite atypical, mainly on the self teaching first steps.
Still as a child, he had the opportunity to learn how to handle, prepare and sharpen the tools of a carpenter workshop at Villaviciosa de Odón (Madrid), where his parents lived. In those years he built his firsts instruments with lots of exciting feelings, spontaneous vocation and, obviously considering his age, thoughtless courage.
In this years he learned to repair almost any kind of plucked string instruments (though mostly guitars) and begun building professional Bandurrias and Spanish Lutes with a warm response among many of the most important Spanish players. That success meant a fundamental encouragement for his vocation.
In these two decades, his activity made his way to build and restore ancient plucked stringed instruments (Vihuelas, Renaissance and Baroque Guitars, Renaissance and Baroque Lutes, Theorbos, etc.) for many of the finest concert players of this specialty. At the same time, he began building classical guitars, obtaining a remarkable appreciation from the professional guitar community.
Nowadays he’s devoting himself exclusively in constructing classical and romantic guitars. He spends an important part of his time researching how to improve the skills of contemporary guitar. The applause he receive from many professionals, for which he’s deeply grateful, encourage him to continue devoting his life to guitar building.
